Classes online Monday as blizzard warning issued for Sunday storm

Rutgers University announced on Friday that classes would be moved online Monday and Tuesday following the warnings of a blizzard on Sunday.
Busch, Livingston, and Neilson dining halls as well as the Atrium will remain open on Sunday and Monday, Rutgers Dining said in an email to students. “Depending on the weather, some retail operations may close,” the email continues, “If several locations are closing, we will let you know via email.” Dining Services will also post real-time updates and information regarding delayed opening via its Instagram account.
Cook Cafe and food trucks will be closed on Tuesday, with the rest of the dining halls and retail locations returning to normal operating hours.
Rutgers New Brunswick busses will suspend service on Sunday evening and all of Monday, per an update in PassioGo!, where students can check for further service updates. Service will be suspended until roads are deemed safe for travel on Tuesday.
Cook, Douglass, Livingston and Busch student centers will close at 6 p.m. on Sunday, with the College Ave student center closing at 8 p.m. On Monday, student centers on Cook, Douglass, Livingston and Busch will be closed, while the College Ave student center will open at 7 a.m. and close at 11 p.m.
Student centers for Douglass, Livingston and Busch will open at 9 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, while the College Ave Student Center will open at 7 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. The Cook Student Center and Student Activities Center will remain closed.
In an announcement to New Brunswick residents, Mayor Jim Cahill announced that New Brunswick Parking Authority garages are now open for residents to park in free of charge until 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Car owners are encouraged by the Mayor to move their cars to make snow cleaning operations more efficient. Cars not removed from snow-emergency roads after they become snow covered are to be towed and ticketed by New Brunswick Police.
A Code Blue is in effect from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Tuesday. A warming center is available at 6 Kirkpatrick St. Monday’s trash pickup has been postponed to Wednesday, with Monday’s recycling service moving to Saturday. City offices and city hall were closed Monday due to an extension of Governor Sherrill’s travel ban, but New Brunswick Public Works, Public safety and other operations will continue through the storm.
Rutgers libraries will be closed on Sunday through Tuesday, although remote and online services will continue to be available 24/7. All recreation centers will close at 6 p.m. on Sunday, and remain closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Clinical operations are to continue through the storm, department heads are asked to work remote where feasible, and essential employees will be told where and when to report by their supervisors.
