Firetrucks and firefighters were seen near Voorhees Residence Hall on Cook campus earlier Wednesday after a fire reportedly broke out in the building.
Eyewitnesses saw trucks from neighboring townships and fully clad firefighters near the Cook Douglass Recreation Center. Some sources told WRSU that the fire may have been caused due to an electronic device’s battery catching fire, and spreading.
A photo given to WRSU show a fire truck, while another shows students standing outside Voorhees hall.

Some students were later allowed into the dorm, with reports that some first and second floor rooms were flooded from the sprinkler system.
A photo posted by an anonymous YikYak user shows the damage done by the fire to a laptop, claiming a portable charge left on top of the laptop led to the fire. Another user posted a video on the site, showing firefighters dragging a hose to the residence hall.
