KnightBeat for June 4, 2026: The Primary Election Special

In this episode, the WRSU News Department breaks down the latest in primary election results across the country. WRSU host Maryam Malihi interviews WRSU’s Adam Kaplan on the California governor’s race and the state’s unique “jungle primary” system. Malihi then interviews Rutgers Democrats member Chase Porier-McClain on his campaigning experiences with Democratic candidates nationwide. The states discussed included Texas, Iowa, South Dakota, Tennessee, New Hampshire and Maine. Malihi then gives the latest updates on the House of Representatives voting to enact the War Powers Resolution and the Senate working on a bill to fund immigration enforcement agencies with $70 billion. Porier-McClain returns to discuss his experiences campaigning in New Jersey for the primary elections, and him and Malihi discuss the primary results for Democrats and Republicans for all U.S. House seats in New Jersey. Malihi then interviews Rutgers Democrats President Eric Silverman to discuss the impact of the nationwide Democratic primary election results on the Democratic Party as a whole, and how his student organization helped campaign for New Jersey Democratic nominees. WRSU-FM reached out to the Rutgers Republicans student organization, but did not hear back from them in time for the program. The show ends with Malihi breaking down the latest New Jersey news, including eyewitness testimonies of the Delaney Hall protests and government responses, a Pokemon trading card robbery and more. Hosted by Maryam Malihi.
