Come learn about joining WRSU at Rutgers’ Involvement Fair this Sunday

Rutgers University will hold its annual Involvement Fair this Sunday, August 31, from 3-6pm on College Avenue, and WRSU will be there with a live broadcast and merch giveaways, highlighting all the opportunities for Rutgers students at the campus radio station.

While the Involvement Fair is meant as a way for new first-year students on campus to learn about all student organizations available to them – with more than 700 different student groups, including club sports and Greek life – all students are welcome to attend.

Stop by the WRSU table to learn how you can get involved in a radio station that has been around since 1948, starting on the AM dial, and moving to its current position at 88.7 FM in 1974. Over the years, WRSU has won dozens of awards and sent off many alumni to prominent positions in sports broadcasting, news media, entertainment and the music industry.

Interested students can sign up with a QR code to get information about WRSU’s Fall Interest Meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, September 9th at 6 pm in the Multipurpose Room on the second floor of the College Avenue Student Center.

Among the many opportunities at WRSU…

  • Music: Be a DJ, discover new music at our weekly department meetings – the very latest submissions from prominent Indie labels across the country – then play it on the air! We also cover concerts and festivals and interview indie artists from the well-known to the obscure next big thing!
  • News: Aspiring journalists (although you don’t have to be a journalism major) cover the Rutgers campus and other important events, host our news magazine show, “Knightbeat,” and even go out in the field live on Election Night. We’ll be covering the New Jersey governor’s race in November.
  • Sports: Our student broadcasters travel the country covering the Scarlet Knights home and away! We provide live coverage of all Rutgers football and men’s and women’s basketball games, while also covering home events for men’s and women’s soccer and lacrosse, as well as baseball and wrestling. And there’s a daily sports talk show called “The WRSU Crew”
  • Entertainment: WRSU has several entertainment-related shows, including “RU Entertained?” – focusing on music and entertainment news and celebrity gossip, the “RU Awake?” morning show Mondays through Thursdays, and “Brain Rot,” a late-night free-for-all that could include trivia one night, and a mystery dating game the next.
  • Promotions: Join the team that promotes the station and handles all our social media! An excellent choice if you are creative, into graphic design, and enjoy social media!
  • Production: Also for creative types, the Production team helps and trains staff to create promos for their shows, and also produces station liners and imaging to give WRSU its “sound.”
  • Visual Media: Have an knack for taking videos and shooting pics? Join our video team that helps produce videos for our YouTube channel, takes photos at news and sporting events, and works closely with the promotions department to show how awesome we are at WRSU!
