Rutgers Football at Washington Staff Picks and Predictions

Rutgers comes off the bye week, and has itself a primetime matchup in the Pacific Northwest with the Washington Huskies.
The Scarlet Knights look to pick up a signature road win, after a heartbreaker two week ago in Minnesota. Here are our picks and prediction from our staff here at WRSU Sports:
Phil Jaccoma, Sports Director:
Score Prediction:
The offense will continue to produce but it will get outpaced by Washington’s. The defense has been struggling all season, and I don’t see a bye week fixing that, especially since the Knights had to make the difficult trip out west. To all the bettors, a Raymond touchdown is almost guaranteed as he’ll continue to shine in the red zone.
Will Carmenaty, Program Director/Assistant Sports Director:
Score Prediction: Washington wins 38-28
The bye week definitely gave Rutgers a good chance to give its guys rest and have a full two week focus on this Washington team. The Huskies are 4-1 on the year, and are coming off a big 4th quarter comeback win against Maryland. Demond Williams is an elite duel threat QB, which has given Rutgers lots of problems this season. I see the Scarlet Knights offense showing out like they usually do, but so will Washington’s.

Score Prediction: Washington wins 38-27
Demond Williams Jr has played excellent this year for the Huskies, and with the combination of Jonah Coleman on the ground, Washington’s offense poses a serious threat. While I do believe the Rutgers offense will continue to excel, the defense has shown signs of concern heading into its third Big Ten game of the year. The Scarlet Knights will keep it close, but the Huskies have proven to be a dominant force this season, with their only loss coming to the reigning champions.

Score Prediction: Washington wins 38-23
I think this is gonna be a strong game for Washington after a scare last week vs Maryland. Yes, Rutgers is coming off a bye but I don’t see them going into UW and beating the huskies, let alone really staying close in this one.

Score Prediction: Rutgers wins 28-21
Rutgers has started Big Ten play 0-2, putting up 28 points in their losses to Iowa and Minnesota. However, after a breakout game from Antwan Raymond, the Knights look to keep their offense rolling. Defensively, they’ll need to stop dual threat QB Demond Washington Jr. from making big passing and rushing plays.
David Herasme-Gomez, Contributing Analyst:
Score Prediction: Rutgers wins 34-31
Washington is a good team and they have a better Big10 record than the Knights, however they didn’t beat Maryland in convincing enough fashion for me to believe they are some powerhouse when compared to Rutgers. The Knights are well-rested coming off a bye week and I expect them to catch Washington off-guard early with aggression and savvy plays on offense. The key to victory is getting out early in the first half, if the Scarlet Knights can do that, they’ll win this game.
Jacob Kohner, Contributing Analyst:
Score Prediction: Rutgers wins 30-23
Rutgers is coming off of bi-week where hopefully they were reflective on their past mistakes as they push towards a bowl birth if this was a normal week of prep for a game, I would be skeptical of the coast to Coast travel and how that will affect the team, but considering they have had time to prepare and recover I think they have a shot. Offense will perform like a juggernaut, but will the defense improve enough to get the win in Seattle we will find out the answer Friday night. If the Scarlet Knights don’t get a win, it will be a long flight back to EWR to say the least.
Heru Dwyer, Contributing Analyst:
Score Prediction: Washington wins 34-24
I think both teams come out the gate hot and we have multiple touchdowns in the first half from both teams. I think Washington will move the ball more consistently later into the stretch and will end up pulling away in the 3rd with a field goal or two. Going into the 4th Rutgers will storm back, but Washington will ice the game with a touchdown.
