Rutgers Football vs Oregon Staff Picks and Predictions

After nearly exactly a month of three road contests, and a bye week, Rutgers Football returns back home for their homecoming matchup, against the Number Eight ranked team in the nation, the Oregon Ducks.
After 3 consecutive loses, Rutgers looks to get what could be their biggest win in more than 15 years, with a tall test in front of them to get their season back on track. Here are our staff picks and predictions from our staff here at WRSU Sports:
Phil Jaccoma, Sports Director:
Score Prediction: Oregon wins 40-17
The Ducks are one of the best teams in the country and although it’s any given Saturday, this isn’t the one to give. The Knights defense won’t be able to stop the high-flying (pun-intended) Oregon offense, and while Kaliakmanis and the trio of WR’s will still make plays, it won’t be enough.
Will Carmenaty, Program Director/Assistant Sports Director
Score Prediction: Oregon wins 45-28
Going into last week’s game, many were hopeful for changes to have been made during the bye week. For the first half, it seemed like the script was flipped from the prior 5 games. The Rutgers defense held Washington to barely 10 points in that first half. Unfortunately they ran out of gas, and ended up conceding close to 600 yards of total offense. I see the Rutgers offense having a bounce back performance on Saturday, after 7 trips to the red zone with only 19 points to show for it last week in Seattle. However, Oregon is one of the premier programs in all of College Football, and Rutgers is really going to need a lot of magic to go their way to win this one, and I don’t see it happening.

Score Prediction: Oregon wins 45-17
Despite a loss to Indiana, Oregon may be the most talented team Rutgers faces all season. Between Heisman candidate Dante Moore, their elite running back-by-committee, their speedster receivers, Kenyon Sadiq or their top five passing defense, the Ducks are absolutely stacked. Kaliakmanis will be pressured significantly and Dante Moore will carve the Knights’ defense with his remarkable arm talent. The Rutgers offense has been very positive in a gloomy start to the season and I do expect the offense to continue to find the endzone, the question is: will it be too little too late?
Frankie Palumbo, Contributing Analyst:
Score Prediction: Oregon wins 55-23
Oregon’s offense is just so overpowered and this will be a get right game for them. I just don’t see a world in where Rutgers is competitive in this game past the first quarter. Moore will throw for 300+ yards.
Woody Silverstein, Contributing Analyst:
Score Prediction: Oregon wins 48-24
Unfortunately for RU, it won’t be close. Oregon is just too good on both sides of the ball, but there will be enough time at the end of the game for Rutgers to make it look a little closer.
Noah Addeo, Contributing Analyst:
Score Prediction: Oregon wins 48-14
Rutgers has their work cut out for them this week against #8 Oregon. The Knights will try to piece anything they can together, and I think they’ll either start hot and score early, or score late in the 4th quarter. Either way I don’t see things going great for Rutgers in this one.
