The Rutgers University Latinx Pre-Law society hosted New Jersey Supreme Court Justice Fabiana Pierre-Louis recently at the Douglass Student Center, and she was gracious enough to sit with WRSU News reporter Maryam Malihi.
In her keynote speech at the reception on May 2, she talked about the history of Black Supreme Court Justices and their human rights activism, particularly US Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, who was mentored by Charles Hamilton Houston.
In this exclusive interview, Maryam asks Justice Pierre-Louis about how she sees her role as a mentor for future lawyers and judges, her advocacy for social justice in New Jersey, and her official opinions on some fun New Jersey geographic controversies.
