This afternoon, Rutgers Men’s Basketball head coach Steve Pikiell announced that he is currently dealing with cancer. The initial diagnosis came over the summer.
Pikiell is set to enter his 11th season as the Rutgers Head Coach. He had stated, “I will still be involved to the best of my ability as I navigate the challenges of the season through treatment.” Assistant Coach Brandin Knight will have the main duties in the coaching role during Coach Pikiell’s absence from the sidelines.
Rutgers will open its season on November 6th against New Haven. Rutgers looks to start off the season with a number of wins against its non-conference opponents.
We wish Coach Pikiell all of the best in his road to recovery, from here at WRSU.
