WRSU Interview with Joyer
Joyer by Avery Davis
Interview by Maeghan Prophete
Last month, I had the pleasure of speaking with Joyer, the East Coast indie rock duo of brothers Nick and Shane Sullivan. With their new songs “Cure” and “Spell” out now, we talked about the evolution of their sound, the role of distance in shaping their latest project, and how connection, both online and in real life, continues to define their music.
Joyer reflects on growing up playing venues like The Meat Locker, dreaming of full-circle moments at White Eagle Hall, and what it felt like to take the band from local East Coast shows to touring across the country. We also dive into the studio process behind their new album, and how their track “At the Movies” didn’t fully click until unexpected production choices brought it to life.
