On April 9, WRSU members took on The Daily Targum for the fourth time at Jersey Mike’s Arena for this year’s Rutgers Student Media Basketball Game, and came up just short, falling 63-62.
The energy was high on the court as friends, members and alumni of both organizations cheered on from the stands, watching this year’s fast-paced action. WRSU started Music Director Jake Falkenstein, sports broadcasters Max Sanchez, Brendan Kelly, Phil Jaccoma and Sports Director Eddie Kalegi. Head coach Jess Buckley and assistants Eloise Glantz and Dave Palumbo guided the team from the sidelines.
With tipoff going out-of-bounds for The Targum, the first ball of the game was given to WRSU, starting off a lively first period.

By the end of the period, The Daily Targum took the lead with a score of 35-24 over WRSU. Both teams managed to keep the energy going throughout halftime, by continuing to practice, regaining energy and taking photos for their respective organizations. Fans watched on from their seats waving encouraging (and in one case, discouraging) signs and danced along to halftime music.

Despite many ups and downs throughout the game, WRSU managed to catch up to The Targum within the last 30 seconds of the game, closing the gap to just one point. But Targum forward Noah Ohayon blocked a WRSU shot to seal the 63-62 victory over WRSU.
The Daily Targum maintains its series lead (3-1), with another match set for next year.
