Senior Alex Carmenaty and junior Eddie Kalegi took home “Best Football Play-By-Play” honors from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System at the organization’s annual conference in New York City.
The pair won for the broadcast of the Rutgers football team’s comeback on Homecoming against Michigan State on October 14, 2023, in which the Scarlet Knights rallied from a 24-7 fourth-quarter deficit to win 27-24 before a full house at SHI Stadium in Piscataway.
IBS receives hundreds of submissions in every category, and WRSU also was a finalist in two other categories.
Carmenaty and News Director Priscilla Senger were finalists for “Best Spot News” for their on-site coverage of the Rutgers Faculty Strike last spring, while Music Director Mary Mankowich was a finalist for “Best Show Promotional Poster” for her artwork promoting WRSU’s concert stage on Vorhees Mall on Rutgers Day 2023.
