WRSU welcomes ten new inductees into station’s Hall of Fame; watch the ceremony on our YouTube channel

Ten new members were welcomed to the WRSU Hall of Fame as part of the Rutgers campus radio station’s second class, during a dinner and ceremony at the College Avenue Student Center on May 2, including a wide range of alums who have contributed greatly to the station’s success, and gone on to stellar careers in the world of broadcasting.

The ceremony was hosted by Broadcast Administrator Mike Pavlichko and student General Manager Johannes Stoeber, and was broadcast live on YouTube. The video can be seen below.

Along the sides of the MultiPurpose room surrounding the nearly 120 people in attendance, several tables were laid out with memorabilia and photos from throughout the many eras of WRSU, including its days as an AM radio station (at 680 on the dial) and its FM era at 88.7, which began in 1974.

And all the inductees gave their speeches on an RCA “Type 77-DX” microphone dating back to the 1950s, most likely a mic used by some other commercial radio station and donated to WRSU for use on the air.

The honorees included:

  • Dev “Dave” Joshi, host of Glimpses of India (1974-present)
  • Bob Lazarczyk, Sports (RC ’78)
  • Dan Schleck, Tech (COE ’78/UC ’90)
